Bullpens decide ALCS game 1

With a season head to head in favour of 10-9 to Boston we expected a hard fought ALCS between the old rivals.

Both Pineda and Wright allowed four runs in their starts and neither made it to the sixth inning with Napoli homering from Pineda and Gregoruis & Headley taking Wright deep.

It stayed at four runs a piece until the top of eighth then with Heath Hembree pitching his second inning allowed three hits including two doubles, the second from Gregoruis driving in Beltran to take a 5-4 Yankee lead. Aaron Judge was next up who hit for a single and Gregoruis moving to third tried to score and was thrown out at the plate, this was perhaps the play of the game.

Boston went quietly in the bottom of the eighth and the Yankees went 1-2-3 in the top of the ninth leaving Betances to close out the ninth.

Three pitches saw two outs before Pedroia was walked, Bradley drove in Pedy from first to tie the game, the damage was done. Koji pitched the top of the tenth and Betances came back out and allowed a double to Bogaerts, walked Ortiz, Swihart singles and the bases were loaded.

Facing Napoli who had already homered in the game, Betances walked the winning run home, Boston take an early 1-0 lead in the series.

We see game two of the ALCS, Nova takes on Masterson who is coming back from injury.

Nationals and Dodgers start their NLCS with a dream pitching matchup, Strasburg v Kershaw!
