San Diego, CA
-And the dominos have begun to fall. The shake-up in the San Diego Padre Baseball Club home office wasn’t a matter of if, but when. New GM Jim Miller has a very specific vision for Padres baseball and anybody not on-board is either going to get on board quickly or hit the streets. Apparently, a couple people will be hitting the streets right now: Assistant GM A.J. Preller and Manager Chip Hale. Both were relieved of their duties as of 8:00 AM this morning.
“We are serious about winning here in San Diego and the recipe for how to get that accomplished has been spelled out clearly. Those that do not believe in what we are doing are free to go in another direction.” GM Jim Miller said. “I wish AJ [Preller] and Chip [Hale] the very best. They are both very talented individuals and I’m sure they will be able to make a positive contribution to baseball someplace else.” Miller concluded.
Currently, the Padres are without an Assistant GM or Team Manager, “We will fill these positions with people who want to be part of something great, that don’t accept the status quo; that believe we can win a World Series in San Diego.” Miller said.
Spring training is just a few weeks away and as of right now, the Padres organization appears to bogged down in red-tape and confusion.
