Righting the Ship With Youth in Colorado

Denver, CO – (AP)   The defending champion Rockies seem to be slowly regaining early season form. A sub-par May had many wondering if last year’s Cinderella story was running it’s course but a 5 game winning streak has them back atop SSG and out to an 8 game lead over division foes San Fransisco and Los Angeles.

Even though Nolan Arenado is leading SSG in WAR however,  he is in a slight slump and the Rockies have been lead by a handful of new faces in the middle infield. Rookies Forrest Wall, Ketel Marte, Gavin Checchini (on DL currently) and recently called up Yu Cheng-Chang have been stellar while Yolian Cerce spends his second stint on the DL. Some tough decisions will need to be made when Cerce and Cecchini come of the DL next week.

Leading all of these young guns is the veteran of 85 FULL GAMES in the majors, David Dahl with a .330 avg, 14 HRs and 36 RBI.

The Rockies will go for six in a row against division rival Arizona at Coors Field this evening as World Series MVP Tyler Matzek takes the mound against Yoan Lopez of the Diamondbacks
