The Blue Jays and Nationals follow the Red Sox and Dodgers (2015), Angels and Rockies (2016) into the SSG history books in making it to the SSG Baseball Fall Classic, congratulations to GM’s Arnett and Garde.
The Blue Jays and Nationals were two of only three teams to win over hundred games in 2017 in the regular season, boasted the league leader in wins this season (Stroman 20) and their pitchers lead their respective leagues in ERA (Sale (2.84) and Zimmermann (2.30)). A combined playoff record 14-3 between the two teams in 2017, going 8-1 in their respective LCS.
The game one matchup features probable pitchers Marcus Stroman and Matt Scherzer, two of the top pitchers in SSG Baseball this season. Stroman has been lights out all season, an amazing 29 walks issues in 31 games in the regular season, continued this form into the post season. In his two starts he allowed 2 runs in 15+ innings striking out 17, he arguably has the best control of all pitchers in SSG Baseball currently.
Scherzer has a little worse than his counterpart, allowing 10 runs in three playoff starts after going 10-10 with a 2.87 ERA in the regular season, though his best performance was his last, allowing just 2 runs and striking out 11 Cubs in a 7-2 win.
Offensively Washington boasts the NLCS MVP Manny Machado who hit .500 in the series against the Cubs including a home run in the clinching 5-4 victory in game 4 to make it to the Fall Classic. Don’t concentrate on Machado solely Toronto, as Jose Abreu has hit .347/.379/1.052 hitting 9 HR and driving in 22 RBI in October.
The Blue Jays bats’ stats don’t stand out so much as the Nationals but Washington need to be wary of the likes of Longoria and Gonzalez, the latter has hit 4 HR in the postseason.
It has the looks of been a great series to end the SSG Baseball season, on paper we could have a pitching duel in each game, good luck to both teams
The series will be broadcast on Twitch TV and you can tune in and watch at https://www.twitch.tv/pldenyer
Games will be played after 1PM ET
