What happened yesterday……
The Nationals levelled the series in DC as they ‘chased’ Anderson by the third inning. Jose Abreu and Manny Machado homered off Anderson in the first but by the end of the third to was 6-0 Nationals. Stephen Strasburg threw eight innings, striking out seven allowing just four hits, the Dodgers scored their two runs off closer Greg Holland in the ninth with a Robbie Cano home run.
Over in Colorado the Cubs will take home a 2-0 advantage as Addison Russell was a single off completing the cycle for the Cubs. Eddie Butler was the victim in the top of the 3rd as Russell blasted a three run HR which put them on their way to victory. Butler left after six innings allowing five of the six Cubs’ run, Jacob Turner went 7 innings allowing just two runs on five hits.
Games on tap today……
We see wild card winner Zach Greinke back on the mound for the Orioles as he again is the man the Baltimore faithful are pinning their hopes on. Greinke has to contain Gonzalez and Pompey who came off excellent games with the bat in game 2.
In Texas we see a team in the last chance saloon in Minnesota. They sent Phil Hughes to the mound and like his opponent Ranaudo both are well rested and making their first appearance of the playoffs. The Twins need the likes of Max Kepler to keep his hot bat and hope Hughes can pitch deep into the game to take the pressure off a well-used Twins bullpen
