Manager Ventura Told to Take a Hike by Chicago
There was not a dry eye in the Chicago White Sox clubhouse today as word spread of Robin Ventura’s dismissal as the team’s manager.
Despite the team’s recent woes, Ventura was widely respected.
“He was a real player’s manager, a real leader and mentor to so many of the guys on this club,” said one player.
Another player had the same sentiment. “Man, this ain’t right. I know baseball is a business, but Robin deserved better.”
Chicago Parts Company with GM Hahn
The White Sox also parted company with their general manager, Rick Hahn. The 49-year-old had been under mounting pressure to turn the club around but was just unable to steer his ship into safer waters.
Upper management has begun seeking Hahn’s successor.
